Weekly Music 2019 - 52 Weeks, 52 Tracks

Recommended Posts

I thought it would be an interesting and useful challenge to try and make a track a week in 2019. Anyone else up for the challenge?

EDIT: I've been made aware the site I posted for sharing and tracking music doesn't do odd years (thanks, blunted), but an alternative has been mentioned: https://streak.club/s/1002/weekly-music-2019

Compose and produce a new piece of music each week. Your submission is due every Sunday at 11:59 UTC. You should aim for at least one minute of music, and should be created that week.

Late submissions: Late submissions are open. If you miss a deadline you can still submit by clicking the week on the calendar to the right. If you submit late, your post will get a big Late tag, but it will still count for your streak.

Of course if people want to just track it themselves and upload their tracks to Soundcloud or wherever then that's fine too. I just thought it would be nice to encourage each other and see how far we get. It may be all over by March but fingers crossed.

Just been having a quick look at the forum and it appears that Weekly Beats only runs on even years, so not running this year: https://weeklybeats.com/forums/topic/6068/happy-almostnewyear/

Some people are going to be using this site instead though: https://streak.club/s/1002/weekly-music-2019

Are we going to use that site or just post stuff up in here ourselves?

Ah, didn't see that. Shame they couldn't put that on the front page.

Okay I'll edit the original post. I'll put that link in but if people want to just put it on their Soundcloud and track it themselves then that's fine.

Cheers Vim/Blunted.

Think i'll use this to post some electric retro doodlings. The Stuff i do inspired by Plaid and maybe some Hauntology as i've got a few tracks hidden away i've never posted.

May not hit 52 though but i'll post what i can.

Mines up. I'll repost em to soundcloud anyway as i create 24bit wavs (for sound quality) which is mad as it means everyone has to download em.

I'll look into this.

So how are people getting on with this? I really like it. There appears to be a good community on there. Hopefully they'll be really supportive as it gets harder later on.

I'm going to upload my next track tomorrow most likely. I'll also be honest and say I've got the next couple of weeks' tracks ready or nearly ready. Just take then time to work on stuff when I have it rather than go "what am I doing this week". Going to try different types of production too, mix it up a bit.

Can I get in on this? I just discovered the thread a couple of days ago so I've got a bit of catching up to do.

Knocked the old drink and drugs on the head for the new year so I'm looking for a creative outlet to stop me gnawing my own arm off.

I used to love making tunes but haven't done it for years and years so I'm really rusty.

Probably going to have to stop smoking (again), I was using bits of my lungs that haven't seen air for decades, coughing and spluttering and getting light headed after singing for five minutes!

I've missed the first week, will this count as week 2 and I just carry on from here?

Can I count this as week 1 and make another one this week for week 2?

You can submit late entries I believe, so get signed up and fire it up on the site!

Good luck btw on putting your energies to "better" use. Making music fills a similar gap for me.

I've barely had any time this week and have a house full of my extended family all weekend, so my effort is going to be entirely half-arsed.

Thanks!

With regards to your synth comment, I quite often think I should buy a decent hardware controller and get a bit more ITB, I think it's a "grass is greener" thing. I've changed my gear so much recently I'm just trying to resist getting anything more until I'm a bit more familiar with what I have now.

Yeah i'm not sure exactly what i'd gain really. I guess i want a purer analog sound for leads. I think i'm fairly covered elsewhere but i'd like leads with that extra drive of juice.

However in the mix...
