Forza Horizon 4 - Open-UK Racing

Recommended Posts

I’ve actually had a fantastic time tearing through a load of off-road series races trying to get up to 7m skill points. It’s taught me lots about skill chaining and given me something to work towards, which is what I wanted. I wish I could be sure that my counter won’t reset (on about 4.5m at the moment) because apart from that it’s a been a really fun exercise.

I’ll probably never want to race the off road series again when I’m done, though.

Yes. Fairlawn Manor, south of Edinburgh, west of Bambourgh.

Outstanding, with the super wheel spins this gives, I got the FE Landover that's the current forzathon shop thing. Farted out 1.4m points barely trying, bonkers car. Of course, no idea what my overall tally is.

Getting so many cars thrown at me, some fairly exotic, that I'm thinking the houses with bonuses is where all the money needs to go first.

Your joking?...they're easier then before!.

Just use the drone and look for the long rounded roof sheds. The drone will mark them so you can drive to them.

Whats the deal with the seasonal co op championships? I keep doing them but they dont check out afterwards and no rewards either.

Do you have to be in a party or something (hence the co-op modifier)?

Or just use a map to show you the locations, like this one:

Life's too short to waste time searching for barn finds.

I tend to set a couple of minutes limit on searching before I'll check online. It's nice to find it yourself, but some of them are too well hidden.

I have never liked doing drift events in a game. Had a hoot doing the first couple of Drift Club events last night. What has this game done to me?!?

Nah, I've left 5 sitting there on the map ready to do with the kids, we're always a bit gutted when we've finished them. They get a kick out of finding it, and I enjoy seeing what car is next.

Never spent more than 5 minutes looking for any up to now.... (well only done 10 so far). Drone view just makes it easy along with the turbo button!

Although TBH thought they'd try something original this time instead of barn finds...again.

Stopped playing this temporarily because just finding the credit grinding tedious... not really interested in getting clothes, houses, horns or emotes. Cars? Well played 2 to death so cars aren't doing it for me either... been there done that - shame the cars I earnt in 2 don't carry over as it feels like I'm doing the same old again.

Enjoyed the stunt driver events and finished up on those, done all the showcases. Raced a few races. Found a few more roads, broke a few boards, found a few beauty spots, done some danger locations and drift zones. All in all spent around 20 or so hours on it and I think I'm done with it at the moment! Although I  think someone mentioned a range of events opening up at level 40.. one of which pays homage to the PGR series... so might aim for getting to level 40 (or just shove PGR4 back on for a bit :D

Anyway going into moany mode here so I'll shut up had I not played any other Forza horizon game I'd be silly happy with this :D I'll come back to it at some point again... Glad everyone is enjoying though.....

I have to say, the concept of filling a garage full of cars is really wearing off, particularly as they're not really tangible, unlike your physical garages in TDU. If I could put together some sort of Jay Leno's garage, complete with gorgeous forza vista mode, I think I'd enjoy that. But we've had a rapid succession (relatively) of collect-a-thons now, and I'm really starting not to care. The number of new cars feels like it's thinning out, and that's because there's only so many exiting enough cars every year. It was a brief novelty to buy the Kia Stinger, first to see a Kia in game and second because I quite fancy it, but there endeth my purchasing spree. Everything else has come from spins. However, I did get really existed at the 3 FEs I've won, can't wait to try the drift car in the summer. I also got a speed boost FE VW camper van last night, outstanding.

I was really thinking about this last night - remember grinding your guts out to get into the Skyline in Gran Turismo 3? That felt like an achievement, suddenly being unleashed in that thing. An abundance of cars is almost like pirating games, having so many that I don't care about them.

I think this is why I like the barn finds so much, tends to be more thought gone into them. I was gob smacked by the Mk3 Escort RS. Couldn't wait to get inside, and then I was gushing over those awful sliding heat controls and soundly ignored by my family as I did so. But it was a lovely bit of nostalgia.

Anyway, it's fine, it's more about the exploring and racing, so I'm not worried about the cars. I've already got more than I'll probably ever drive. I guess the difference here is that I'll fully upgrade my favourites, which is a neat twist.

I know I keep bring this up, so apologies for mentioning it yet again, but if you want a challenge with a bit of longevity, try the Rivals tab. There are literally dozens of events & unless you are a world class  player, you will always have someone with a faster lap/run time than your previous best and you will more than likely get to use some of the cars you've been awarded that you haven't had a reason to drive yet.

There's a rivals event for every main car category and upgrade level too and in previous games Turn 10 have added new challenges every month.

It's helped me put many more hours in & get more out of every Forza game where it's featured. It really is the heart of the Forzas for me.
