Super Mario Odyssey - Hall of Fame: 999 problems but a Peach ain't one

Recommended Posts

I'm at 590 and I've not looked at the Darker Side of the Moon yet, but I doubt I'll do it without a guide. I'm wandering to worlds now, finding one or two and then moving on. I'll be damned if I'm paying Toad for hints though.

I've still got a fair few moons to buy and three elusive purple coins in New Donk. I've always dipped back in to replay levels in 3D Mario platformers so I'll leisurely amble my may to full completion I think. I don't see the point of grinding my to them. I'm also really keen to play through to the credits again soon, so I'll do that first.

How frequently did people use Toad hints?

I held off right until the end and paid for three. I only felt annoyed with myself for not discovering one of them though. The other two were more filler moons, if you know what I mean. I also looked up the kingdoms that an art solution and a warp picture were in too, but not the specific locations.

May I please join the club? Proof in spoiler.

I did have to do some coin farming but just stuck a podcast on so it wasn't too painful. I used plenty of Talkatoo and Toad hints, found it rather fun to interpret the clues and be guided to a particular location. Also a little bit of Youtube for some purple coins, the location of a painting, and some tips on execution for particularly punishing platforming parts.

No way am I doing this. Darker Side of the moon has slaughtered the all the goodwill I had toward Nintendo. They can fuck off with that utter bullshit.

Cunts.

Why? It's a decent level with a bit of variety and the difficulty's not too punishing (unlike Champion's Road in 3D World which is a fair bit tougher). There aren't any checkpoints but the stage itself isnt too long and has a forgiving health boost halfway through.

I wish there were a whole load more levels like it.

I got 999.

I wouldn't really say it's worth it as I still don't understand the decision to make you buy so many of them from the shop. Forcing you to grind for coins isn't much fun and the 'reward' for getting all of them is also pretty lame.

I've started on NSMBU now and 3D World will be next.

Oh man, I adore NSMBU; don't overlook its Challenge Mode! Absolutely the best part of the game. There over 80(!) of them!

Is this much like the hilarious toy-out-pram throwing that Dark Souls 3 received on encountering a normal enemy that was apparently “cheap”?

Darker Side of the moon isn’t even that hard and it’s meant to be a final final challenge, the game is already beat and this a distinctly meant to be a culmination of everything. A final epic run.

Maybe im being harsh, but the Cartman of rllmuk schtick can become so very tiresome.

Dude it's LeChuck. Just let him run off some steam and he'll come back and say "yeah I was wrong it's the best, it still sucks for X Y and Z reasons though!" Then the outro music plays and we all get to crack on with the thread.
