AMIGArama Podcast Episode 47: Shadow of the Beast II

Recommended Posts

Mentioned this in the Amiga thread but thought I'd put up a thread for it on it's own.... I've started a podcast about the Amiga, will be weekly and I plan to do 1 game per week. First episode is up now:

Linky

After some design help here and look back at some Amiga history (for me) I hope this is a good intro to what's to come.  So please listen, subscribe and if I can be cheeky... stick us a rating on iTunes :hat:

I even did a website!

Good stuff. Have you considered a co host?

Don't know anyone really who can commit to once a week, especially not someone into Amiga stuff. So looks like its just me!

Episode 2 has just gone live and this week I cover Jetstrike

A classic that doesn't seem to get a lot of love but secretly might just be one of the systems best games!

Podcast is now live on iTunes and I hope everyone will show some support and subscribe :)

I’ll have a listen to this and subscribe. Used to play this constantly on my old CD32. Think I saw it as Wings if Fury 2!

Just went to look that up, looks great! Really decent graphical improvements too!

Great second show.

I intend to play each game as you go through them.

Tackling something with a bit of adventure and sci fi in episode 3. Looking forward to it, very odd game I've picked but you will enjoy it when you play it :)

@Lorfarius How the fuck can you waffle on about Jet Strike for like half an hour?

Oh, like that.

If you want anyone to come on and talk about how he got into the Amiga (there's a story, not very exciting but unusual), and his most played Amiga game that pretty much nobody else has ever heard of, "hit me up", as the cool kids don't say any more.

I'll drop you a PM. Gaffer is going to be coming on for an Xmas Special, possibly more. Guest spots are fun!

Gave jetstrike a quick go. Need to read some instructions I think but I'll do that and have another pop this weekend.

What controller are you using?

Konix speed King. Just looked at the instructions and the controls are well weird! Thought my joystick was wired wrong at first!

I'd give the keys a whirl if you struggling with it.

Really enjoyed these. Couple of bits of feedback, if you want them?

How about a mailbag, or some such? I'm sure lots of us have little questions to ask about your experience specifically, and Amiga shizz in general. Or we could share our experiences?

Also, and this might just be me, but any way you could cut down on the length of the intro music? It's fine, but for me it's way too long. Perhaps run it for 10 seconds then fade it back whilst you do your intro? Once more, that may well just be my personal weirdness!

Apart from that, it's great and I love the format of someone enthusiasticly wiffling and waffling about the stuff they love. Good work :)

Happy to receive it! I'm hoping people will start suggesting games, questions etc as time goes on. Facebook page is up and the main site (I might be redesigning it over Xmas when I have some time). Fingers crossed more people want to comment as it goes on, I get the impression that a lot of podcasts start then die out pretty quickly. I'm here to stay though

I've been thinking of cutting the music intro as well, I just thought 30 seconds was a nice round number. Shows do different things so wasn't sure but I've been messing with some different lengths so I'll change it in a couple of weeks when I'm happy with it and start doing more editing.

Funny thing is someone told me I waffle too much. I'm like this all the time!

As a fellow waffler, I salute you.

I'll think of some questions and that. You could have me on at some point, but not sure my thrilling notes on consistently failing to win at Arcade Pool, or getting Monkey Island to load would be that gripping :)

I'd rather listen to someone waffle enthusiastically for twenty minutes, as though in the pub with a pal, than someone reeling off facts in monotone.  Amiga facts. Facts.

Fact into doubt won't go.
