Another day another Diabolic beef.

To be fair, he's really good at it! Always results nice tracks. Problem for him is that he could end up doing a Chino XL - if you diss literally everyone, nobody is going to help you advance your career even though you got skills.

Yes he's a beast. I haven't bothered posting the Jus Allah effort as it's so weak in comparison.

I've always found Freddie Gibbs projects pretty hit or miss, with my favourite of his tracks usually buried in an otherwise mediocre 'mixtape' release.

Similarly with Madlib if I'm honest. After over 15 years or so of sometimes intense listening to his catalogue my relationship to a lot of it has changed.

I did love Piñata though. I absorbed it fully and came back to it a lot over the years. And now that I'm a few good listens into Bandana and the initial buzz has long gone I don't think it's anywhere near as strong.

The feature list is impeccable and possibly the most ridiculous aspect to the whole thing. Yaasin Bey and Black Thought almost stole the show. Some of the beats are vintage Beat Konductor brilliance - dense, rich, super soulful and over far too quickly but others.. definitely less so. Many of the skits were annoying upon first listen and.. yeah they're always going to be annoying. Freddie Gibbs seems to expanded his usual subject matter but struggles to say much coherently with it. And he'll always sing like a foghorn. And though it's sequenced perfectly I'll be skipping tracks if / when I listen to it again.

Your Old Droog's Transportation album by contrast might be more my thing because I find it fresher all round. There's no dust on the beats. He's always been a funny storyteller and his pen game just gets sharper. He might never show off with ludicrous double time rhyming or handling crazy beat switches but he never wastes any lines either. And the skits were funny at first and they're still funny now. It's an easier listen all round with some of the best tracks I've heard in a while. Every time I've listened to it I've caught a new hilarious gag or two and his references just chime so much more with me. And that closer with Wiki - that's a masterpiece.

Making a playlist for my summer - family holiday in a villa in Spain. Please recommend me some bangers, bops, songs that slam, jams, anthems and summer classics.

Preferably ones where the chorus isn’t too sweaty due to there being young kids there.

Or if you already have a playlist for such an occasion please share it.

Thank you.
