  2. Haven't tried it out yet, but assuming it's good this is one hell of a nice gesture by current Titan Quest ip owners Nordic Games. Out of nowhere (well, not exactly, they've been patching the original games and running beta versions for months on Steam now) they've now released Titan Quest Anniversary Edition on Steam! That's right, one of the best ARPG's ever made remastered for a new generation to enjoy with a total of 1261 changes. It incudes both the original Titan Quest and the must-have expansion Immortal Throne combined into one game with reworked multiplayer, stability, performance, balancing, AI, STEAMWORKS and much more. And anyone who already owns either Titan Quest, Titan Quest Gold or (not and! Or!) Immortal Throne on Steam will get (or already own, since it's out) Titan Quest Anniversary Edition for FREE! And for those who don't already own one of the TQ games? Well, after being ashamed of yourselves for having a bad taste games and missing out on one of the best games in its genre for so long, you can buy Titan Quest Anniversary Edition with a 75% discount for one week. That's either 5 US dollars or 5 euros - no idea how much it is in the UK, but after Brexit that probably translates to 60 quid or something? Somebody let me know and I'll edit it in. After a week, the price will go up to twenty bucks/euros. Steam storepage here Full changelog here Edit: also out on GOG! GOG storepage here, same 75% discount but no free option obviously For those unfamiliar with the game, Titan Quest comes with my highest possible recommendation (Official Gerbik Approved (tm) ). Personally, I prefer Titan Quest over the likes of Diablo and Torchlight, but it takes awhile to get going - the game really comes into its own once you hit level 8 and unlock the second skill tree for lots of possibilities, allowing you to freely customise and combine skills between two different classes in a way that not many other games in the genre allow. But it's the setting that makes Titan Quest memorable above anything else - no emo/goth/satanic or endless dark dungeons or ye olde fantasy locales or even science-fiction trappings here, instead you're travelling across ancient Greece, into ancient Egypt and even further while fighting mythological beasts along the way like Minotaurs and Medusas and whatever else is appropriate for each location. It's all wonderfully different and refreshing, and even after all this time it still plays so well (thanks in no small part to the aforementioned multiple skill trees customisations).

  6. Did anyone else start playing this on the Switch the other day (Or indeed has played it on other platforms). I'm really enjoying myself. Combat is fast and fun. The plot can be a little talky and slow but I like the castaways idea and building up the base slowly as you move through the plot is satisfying. Currently I'm level 30.

  12. Look - another game set in a Japanese school! Mandatory dramatic trailer: Metacritic 80 Danganronpa is an adventure game set in Hope's Peak Academy, a school with a reputation so good that anyone who graduates from there is said to be set for life. The current year's new students are, as always, a big deal - fourteen of the most prestigious and talented youngsters from their fields, such as the Ultimate Baseball Star, Ultimate Programmer (...) and, er, Ultimate Fanfic Creator. And you - Makoto Naegi. You are the "Ultimate Lucky Student" who won the fifteenth spot at the school by virtue of winning a raffle for your place. Showing up for your first day you enter the school, but find that everything is not quite as it seems... You find yourself trapped in the school along with the other new students, and are informed that the only way out is to commit the perfect crime - murder a fellow student, and don't get found out. If you succeed, you're out. If you don't, things might get a little... grisly. Danganronpa's been described as a mix of the social segments of the recent Persona entries, investigations like Phoenix Wright and storytelling in the mould of Virtue's Last Reward, along with featuring an idiotic animal antagonist to boot. As such spoilers will probably ruin it for everyone so: USE SPOILER TAGS when discussing the story please! Also buy from Grainger Games for £27 (Price correct as of 21 March 2014).

  14. Switch, Playstation 4, Xbox One, Steam - 24/10/2017 ABOUT: A powerful ancient evil has arisen, and the war to save humanity has begun! The Mummy Demastered throws you into a 16-bit-inspired battle against the undead in a 2D, nonlinear, action-packed adventure. As an elite agent in the monster-hunting Prodigium organization, you must use a variety of weapons, upgrades, and mysterious artifacts to defend mankind against the supernatural hordes of Princess Ahmanet. Your Prodigium unit is already on the scene, but HQ lost contact with them hours ago. Only by exploring tombs, forests, abandoned tunnels, and the cursed streets of London will you discover the fate of your allies. But beware – Ahmanet commands legions of undead, insects, plague-ridden vermin, and worse! If you’re not careful, you’ll be the next soul in her army. KEY FEATURES: • Stunning retro-inspired graphics and atmospheric chiptune soundtrack • Shoot-’em-up action meets exploration-based adventuring • Fight for survival against swarms of horrifying enemies and bosses • Obliterate monsters with an arsenal of weapons including grenades, a flamethrower and more • Uncover and collect 50 hidden relics Reviews Playstation Universe - 8.5/10 "A thunderous Metroidvania effort that sublimely marries the timeless design of yesteryear with some of the best decisions of modern game design, The Mummy Demastered is not only a great title but also one of the genuinely best surprises of the year." Nintendo Life - 9/10 "They say don't judge a book by its cover, and you shouldn't judge this game based on its movie tie-in; with The Mummy Demastered, WayForward may have reached its apex. It deserves to stand on its own as one of the best recent examples of not only a pixel art aesthetic, but as an excellent combination of run 'n gunning, platforming and exploration. The game benefits from paying homage to multiple 16-bit ancestors rather than strictly sticking to its celluloid source material; The Mummy Demastered is a polished, accomplished and satisfying adventure that will entertain more than just Metroidvania fans." Destructoid - 7.5/10 "This game doesn't do anything meaningfully new or original for metroidvania fans, but everything here is solid and WayForward got the fundamentals right... in a licensed Mummy adaptation, of all things." Metro - 7/10 "It’s more an unofficial Castlevania game than a movie tie-in, but if you can handle the high difficultly level this is an effective substitute for the real thing."
  15. I've posted about this before in the Kickstarter thread, but even though the game is crowd-funded it's not actually on Kickstarter (it's a fixed funding project on Indiegogo instead) and that thread perhaps doesn't give it the exposure it deserves. The game is in its last week of funding and still needs about 300k at the time of writing, so any help is welcome at this stage, So what is Indivisible? In short, it's a hybrid of a 2D Metroidvania game (in that it has a large interconnected map, platforming, areas that are locked off until you have certain items or skills, secrets and even some sequence breaking) and an RPG, most notably in its party management, leveling and battle system. Combat is heavily inspired by Valkyrie Profile in that each character in your four-person party is mapped to a button, with directional inputs adding more moves. Combat is not turn-based. You can attack as long as you have meter, so meter management plays an extremely important role in combat. The game is made by Lab Zero Games, the team that brought you Skullgirls. Here's their campaign video: This is by no means final, but what is cool is that everything you see in there is already playable. Lab Zero released a free playable prototype for Linux, Windows, Mac, Steam and PS4. Even though it's just the tip of the iceberg, it plays really well and has some cool stuff for expert players in it, like a secret boss and sequence breaking for speedruns and pacifist runs. If you want to read what they plan on adding, this post from the design director goes into great detail: http://indivisiblegame.com/blog/building-on-the-indivisible-prototype/ Combat is already pretty damn fun and you can see how much the additions above will add to the strategy. The way attacks link, with certain attacks setting enemies up for juggling, attacks having different status effects (like putting slow down on an enemy) and the different effects for the supers of each character can all be glimpsed in the prototype, and that's without all the additional characters, weapons, stat differentiation and tech like guard breaks, buffs/debuffs and so on. Other things of note: - Your party consists of your character and three Incarnations, Now what's cool about these Incarnations is that they - like the enemies - are based on a wide variety of mythologies and cultures from all over the world. This results in an incredibly diverse cast of characters. You can read all about the Incarnations that have been revealed up to this point here: http://labzerogames.com/indiv-incarnations/ - Music is composed by Hiroki Kikuta, most famous for Secret of Mana. - The game will have many crossover indie stars that will be playable, including Juan from Guacamelee, the Drifter from Hyper Light Drifter and Shovel Knight. The final one will be revealed tomorrow, with some people expecting it to be Miriam from Bloodstained or one of the characters from Undertale. We'll see. Here are the ones revealed so far: There's tons more on their campaign site, including a cost breakdown, the different tiers etc. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/indivisible-rpg-from-the-creators-of-skullgirls#/ So, please help if you're interested.

    West of Loathing

This released last year on PC and last week on the Switch. Don't let the art style put you off, this is a fantastic comedy RPG-lite. You play a young lad who sets off from home to find fame and fortune in the wild west. Along the way, he fights not just gangs and snakes, but demon cows, skeletons and goblins. And it's funny. As in, genuinely funny. The humour reminds me of a cross between Monty Python and Terry Pratchett. There's lots of text, but you never once want to skip it because the dialogue is that good. My one issue is the combat isn't great. It reminds me a bit of the combat in Paper Mario, but it's on the easy side. In fact, I've only died once in about 4 hours of play. But it's not a reason to be put off - it's an aside to the storytelling. Honestly, it's far better than it has any right to be. It's probably my favourite Switch game so far this year.

    Tower of Time (PC, CRPG)

Tower of Time is a modern, story-driven CRPG for PC. I'd not heard of it at all until I saw the YouTube review below as it appears to have got very little press attention. At the time of writing it's on Steam at 20% discount and has a "very positive" rating for 89% of its 414 reviews. I spent a few hours with it last night and it's a very solid modern CRPG in the style of Balder's Gate with a very good tactical combat system which feels very natural and fluid to use. Take a look, see what you think. Developer page: http://www.evehor.com/#thegame Steam Page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/617480/Tower_of_Time/

  21. By IllFonic Official Site | Steam | PS4 | XB1 | FAQ Release date: 26 May, 2017 I just wanted to post this trailer really. It's pretty damn good (and very silly). Did anyone here play Dead by Daylight? That was all the rage on twitch for a while and still has quite a few people playing. Maybe I'll jump on this myself (because Jason) if it still manages to retain a decent community after a few months.
