  4. In various console threads the topic of somebody doing a Netflix style service for games comes up. Looks like MS are going to be offering something like that. EA Access already does something similar, but it's pretty limited as it's just EA games (as the name suggests). Confirmed publishers (from NeoGAF).

    Fortnite | Save The World

Long before the we wanted to go into battle on an island, the world was in big big trouble and only a few brave heroes could SAVE THE WORLD! Or something like that anyway. Fortnite was originally a PvE game and despite Battle Royale being the darling of the industry right now, this is still the meat of Epic's game... But what is it? Well I am too lazy to write stuff so this is from Wikipedia: Whilst the game does have micro-transactions and despite needing to pay to get access right now, the balancing seems pretty decent on the whole, with you being able to progress through the game just by playing and getting end of mission rewards. What's best though, the game is very generous with V-Bucks, meaning you can easily earn enough to buy a full season of Battle Royale within a few days. A few on the forum are really into it... you should be to. Media Our very own @robdood is the go to forum expert in this mode right now and you should check out his videos too. Check out his channel too. Xbox One Console Thread

I was requested to add this Google spreadsheet for people to share their gamer tags: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EHykfNx3wKSen3j64cCP2Bgr9tusBPtPXkitPAPAMxM/edit?usp=sharing Fixing a 'Bricked' Console (Green boot up screen, then hangs at black) Your console is not bricked you are fine. No need for the USB recovery either - since the 1603 build you can self recover via this cool method Try this: Hold down the power button on the front of your Xbox One console until it fully powers down, unplug the power cord, and wait 30 seconds. Please note the console must be fully powered down; the next steps will not work if the console is powered on from connected standby. Plug the power cord back in. PRESS the POWER Button then Hold down the Bind button (located on the side of the console next to the USB port) and the Eject button (located on the front of the console next to the optical disc slot), continue holding down Bind and Eject until you hear a second “power up” chime. Then SELECT Reset this Xbox - This Troubleshooter takes the User to a page that allows them to select full reset or reset but keep content (this allows you to keep your installed games and settings!) Buying games from other regions Original Post: Some patent stuff has been found which gives some probable insight into what people can expect from the next Microsoft home console. http://appft1.uspto....ndo&RS=nintendo Of course all this maybe as outdated as the last set of internal documents about Durango, or Yukon as it seemed to be called back then, but most of it fits with known rumours about this mythical beast. Update 21/1/2013, Final Specs for Durango: CPU: - x64 Architecture - 8 CPU cores running at 1.6 gigahertz (GHz) - each CPU thread has its own 32 KB L1 instruction cache and 32 KB L1 data cache - each module of four CPU cores has a 2 MB L2 cache resulting in a total of 4 MB of L2 cache - each core has one fully independent hardware thread with no shared execution resources - each hardware thread can issue two instructions per clock GPU: - custom D3D11.1 class 800-MHz graphics processor - 12 shader cores providing a total of 768 threads - each thread can perform one scalar multiplication and addition operation (MADD) per clock cycle - at peak performance, the GPU can effectively issue 1.2 trillion floating-point operations per second High-fidelity Natural User Interface (NUI) sensor is always present Storage and Memory: - 8 gigabyte (GB) of RAM DDR3 (68 GB/s) - 32 MB of fast embedded SRAM (ESRAM) (102 GB/s) - from the GPUs perspective the bandwidths of system memory and ESRAM are parallel providing combined peak bandwidth of 170 GB/sec. - Hard drive is always present - 50 GB 6x Blu-ray Disc drive Networking: - Gigabit Ethernet - Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct Hardware Accelerators: - Move engines - Image, video, and audio codecs - Kinect multichannel echo cancellation (MEC) hardware - Cryptography engines for encryption and decryption, and hashing http://www.vgleaks.c...rango-unveiled/

Official patch notes: https://www.nomanssky.com/next-update/ Trailer NEXT is the latest, free update to No Man's Sky. This builds upon the three previous updates: Foundation, Path Finder, and Atlas Rising. The major additions with NEXT are: Here's a NEXT preview by Eurogamer. Other notable new features: Resources for New and Returning Players How do I...? Rocket jump: Tap melee and jetpack in quick succession and you'll perform a boosted rocket jump that moves you a fair amount forward. Bear in mind that this causes life support to drop quicker than usual (as does any use of jetpack), for a split second, which is critical if you're playing Permadeath or Survival mode. Toggle first person/3rd person view: press down on the d-pad and scroll left or right until you come to the camera options. Note: there are separate toggles for flight and while on foot. If you toggled 3rd person while walking, you'll have to do it again while flying if you want 3rd person for both. Get a freighter: given this is kinda part of normal progression, I'll put it in a spoiler. It's not really a spoiler, per se Get nanites: Call up your scanner while on foot and scan flora and fauna. Go to the Discoveries tab in Options (PS4 pad) and upload the discovery to get nanites. Nanites no longer take up inventory space, and it's much easier to get them. General FAQs Eurogamer guide for new players (seems pretty comprehensive)

    Night In The Woods

I've been doing a weekly mini review on some smaller eshop games this last few weeks, in the hope of promoting some discussion about the games. I figured I'd spin off some of the posts into their own thread to see how interested others are. So here goes. This week: Night In The Woods Price: £17.09 Metacritic: 85% https://www.metacritic.com/game/switch/night-in-the-woods Also on: Pretty much everything. It's hard to really talk about Night In The Woods without going into spoiler territory. I can't even quantify what appeals about the game so much to me, really. You play as Mae, a young cat who returns home to her little town after dropping out of college. You rekindle old friendships, you attempt to talk with your disappointed parents, you wander around town, noticing how many places have closed down since you were last here, you poke at dismembered arms with sticks. The atmosphere reminds me of Animal Crossing if it was written by David Lynch. Things just don't seem quite right in this little town. What stands out about Night In The Woods is the dialogue. The core four main friends have easy, well written conversations that flow naturally. Oftentimes, this will slow the pace of the game down a bit as you end up listening to talk about what was on TV lastnight, but it really does aid the character development. And when the game takes a left turn about two thirds of the way through, you realise how important those conversations are. Honestly, I just enjoyed spending time in the world. At about 6-7 hours, it's not the longest game, But the feel of decay, of a town which is failing in the face of the modern world is so well realised. And it has a great story to tell.

    Forza Horizon 3

About time we had a thread for this so here goes. Official site In Forza Horizon, it seems to me the spirit of PGR lives on - racing which is always fun and as accessible or challenging as you wish to make it, all set in gorgeous surroundings to a rich soundtrack. After the US and the Riviera, we are off to Australia next, in a map that is twice as large. There seem to be many new features which weren't mentioned in the briefing - Co-op for the "campaign", Blueprints to create challenges, and Groove radio to stream your own music via Onedrive, to name a few. You are now in charge (hopefully this means some of the annoying voice overs will not feature). Hire and fire drivataars (that's me out for the count then). Scope for a Rllmuk club I would have thought; anyway I can't wait. There is a list of Rllmuk players in this Google doc - Join Us https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-FBdhVYs2DqAfrFjVfrLnVwlQFZ-mgZvGQWYsbOe7X8/edit#gid=0

  17. CGI announcement trailer: First proper trailer: Gameplay details from reddit Q&A: - Sniper rifle carried in case and needs to be assembled/packed up again rather than the magic pockets of Absolution - Hiding gun behind back when near NPCs from Blood Money returns - 'accident' hits for targets return - minimap now tells you where disguises are effective - full-screen map also returns with points of interest marked - Diana gives updates over the earpiece e.g telling you movements of the target - some comedy disguises seem to be back - alerts can trigger lockdowns - civvies leave the area and security conduct a sweep, after which everything returns to normal. These can be triggered strategically e.g by activating fire alarms - guards alertness indicated by yellow/red markers over their heads - certain guards are 'observant' meaning they will bust your disguise more easily. This is often logical, such as head-of-security knowing all his staff. These guards are marked on the minimap to avoid trial and error. - metal detector checkpoints return - save anywhere instead of checkpoints - guards can find mines you've places and will take them away for investigation (much like guards finding your specialist guns lying around in Blood Money and taking them back to the security room). - a form of 'Instinct' seem to return, like Batman's detective vision, highlighting points of entry/egress and guards. - shoving people returns. Including over railings. - throwing objects seems to have returned - choose weapons and equipment before entering a level - David Bateson voicing 47 again - Gameplay closest to Blood Money out of any game in the series Videogamer preview http://www.videogamer.com/ps4/hitman/preview-3901.html "More Blood Money than Absolution" "Going by the initial presentation, Hitman appears to be the game fans have been waiting for since 2006's Hitman: Blood Money, with huge sandbox environments and an unprecedented amount of opportunities to assassinate your target" Announcement blurb:

By Insomniac Games Official Site Release Date: Fall 2014 ABOUT Polygon Article VG24/7 Article Eurogamer Article IMAGES VIDEOS Glad to see they were able to match the visuals of the initial unveil, which I thought looked amazing last year. Based on the footage shown though I do hope the speed of the game is more akin of Vanquish. Even thoug it looks a ton of fun to play it does seem like the player is moving rather slow.

    Lego Dimensions - RIP

  23. I think this game is good enough to warrant it's own thread, I was surprised there wasn't one already. It just recently launched at mid price, 23 quid, on all the major platforms. It's been in early access as an open world survival game for ages. It now has a good story mode with 5 chapters, but only 2 have been released so far with the other 3 coming as free downloads. I put about 40 hours into the sandbox mode a few years back, but it's been overhauled since then and is now pretty beautiful and highly polished. If you like survival games, especially solo, this is the best one I've played. Highly atmospheric and scary at times. Just checked - rated very positive on steam with 25k reviews and 4.5/5 on xbox.
