@Fallows why not just use quickplay? I too was creating lobbies to guarantee 1vs1 at first but since the patch i’ve done a ton of quickplay and it’s been 1vs1 every time with decent matchmaking and mostly acceptable lag. I like what they’ve done with having per character GSP. Makes it less scary to try out new characters online.

It’s pretty poor that there’s no way to invite friends to play online, even though the app. Yeah, a regular time could work. Any night except Tuesday (GT Sport night). Christ, state of my social life! I would agree that playing online or against real people will teach the game better than playing the CPU, once you’ve got the absolute basics down.

Enjoying World of Light now after initially being very unsure. It’s a great way to exploit the massive variety in the game. Smash is a box of toys. The fighters are figures that you play with in pretend fights. Now the figures are dressed up as spirits! I was wondering about the whole ‘spirit type advantage’ thing. Came across this, which explains how all the stats work. I tend to go in with an underpowered primary, with my team about 1000-2000 points below the spirit.

Go into the controls test screen and play 'keepy uppys' with the punchbag. Get really really good at hitting things in the air.

I’ve personally found it fine without TC for everything up to GR3 since the update a couple of months ago. I use TC1 on GR3. I think at the very high skill levels, there is a speed benefit with no TC. I don’t think the pros use it. @Batmobile The throttle response is non-linear. So 50% input gives 75% throttle, or thereabouts. It makes it difficult to ease off the throttle in corners. It sucks. No idea why it is like this.

It is supposed to automatically calibrate to the travel of your pedal. Try unplugging your wheel to reset the calibration. What pedals have you got? The non-linear throttle response has been moaned about a lot on the GT Planet forums and I do share this complaint. But that doesn’t sound like the problem you’ve got. Sounds like your basic calibration is off.

This is crazy good. My kids (and me) are so excited. I've trained them from birth to play smash.

How does your inability to play Vs mode in a snuggled state for the duration of a weekend make it any less suitable a genre for Nintendo celebration? If you ask me when it comes to celebrations, the more the merrier.

You can switch to your name on the character select screen

The more pertinent question is why you would ruin lives by pointing that out?
