What games did you complete? 2019 Edition

Previously ^ 27/03/19 Monsterboy and the Cursed Kingdom The follow up to one of my favourite childhood games, which itself received a brilliant update recently, which was getting raves on here and elsewhere; what could go wrong? I’m glad to say, very little. What a treat this game was beautiful to look at, excellent music, including a sweet remix of the town anthem from Dragon’s Trap, and brilliantly designed levels and puzzles. Making form switching as-hoc rather than locked was a total masterstroke which enabled the devs to really flex their puzzle muscles. My only complaint is that on occasions the difficulty was pitched just a gnat’s to high (I’m looking at you Volcano) for my aging brain to cope with as swiftly as I would have liked, but it never really went beyond slight frustration and a quick break to compose myself had me back in the game. Despite that I would heartily recommend this to all.

One from over the weekend. 08/03/19 Kingdom Hearts 3 This is a strange feeling. I know I enjoyed playing this but as I now look back, I can’t really pinpoint any bit of the game where I was thinking ‘Yeah, this is the shit’. I think the store in the Toy Story section comes closest but even that was slightly tiresome with re-generating enemies. It was another game with a loooooooooooooong drawn-out ending though I guess it can be forgiven for that as it was wrapping up the “trilogy” but it didn’t make it any less annoying there was still some un-necessary padding. Add on I really started to hate Xehonort’s smug fucking face, not in a ‘you’ll get yours’ way but more of a ‘this is actively ruining my enjoyment of this story’ way. Possible ending spoilers: Still as I say, I did enjoy it mostly, I’m just not sure why. Previously

Been a while and here's why: 06/03/19 Super Smash Bros Ultimate - World of Light Hell's teeth, did that mode outstay it's welcome. I have been enjoying the game mostly but good god it seemed like a battle between me and the game as to which would end first. I'm glad to say I won, just about. Now for something a bit slimmer like Ass Creed Odyssey or every episode of The Simpsons! Previous:

EFL Championship 2018/19 - All aboard the rollercoaster

So when I said Villa’s drastic drop in form couldn’t possibly be all down to Grealish missing... about that.
  5. I love the idea that a man who just paid himself 30 million dollars can’t take a pay cut because he’s not a billionaire.
  6. It was me. But I said I would if they shadow dropped it in the direct.
  7. Played the first few tutorial missions on lunch, and so far so good. Each unit has a condition under which they perform a critical hit which adds a nice wrinkle to proceedings. The artwork is delightful and the lore and codex entries are nicely written. Can’t wait to put more time into it.

Nintendo Indie Highlights - 23rd January, 2PM GMT

    Fucking Hell.
  9. It is. Even in just the tiny slice I played at EGX it was easily my game of the show. It’s going to be superb.

Not a lot to add other than I spent all morning avoiding the pats result so I could watch the game in 40 on gamepass this lunch time, only for a guy in my office to say “I see the Patriots did it again” just as I started the game........ so gutted about that PI in the Saints game. Oh and and the shot anthem singer was Jimmy Buffet of Margaritaville “fame”

It really depends on where you want to sit. Tickets last year started at about 40 quid and then go up to £200 or so. Me and my mate are usually sit in club Wembley in one one the end zones which sets us back about £90 per game but it definitely worth paying the extra for club Wembley if you can stretch to it.

18/01 - Mutant Year Zero Whew! I honestly didn't think I was going to make it with this bugger. In the end though, another superb game; a stealth/strategy/puzzle game with an x-commy flavour but bursting with tastes of its own. Nicely set up for a sequel too, with a bit of refinement that could be a real classic. Previously
